Life before freelancing
Prior to becoming a freelance reporter, I was senior networks reporter for online IT publication, silicon.com. There I covered daily news in all areas including new protocols, telecoms, Web services, European Union directives, online music, gadgets, and mobile devices. I wrote news analysis features and was involved in producing content for silicon.com’s streaming TV Gadget Showdown and Behind the Headlines. I also read the news for the Executive News Summery.
Before I moved to silicon, I was assistant editor on monthly magazine, IT consultant, where I wrote features and news on technological and social issues that affected its target audience.
Between leaving university and starting work at IT consultant, I travelled around the world. I resided in various countries including South Africa, Indonesia and India and did a variety of media jobs, from producing a drive time radio show in Australia, to presenting an extreme sport travel video in New Zealand.
